About
Nick Ahmed, born and raised in western Massachusetts, played college ball at the University of Connecticut with future big leaguers George Springer, Matt Barnes and Mike Olt. Ahmed spent the first decade of his career with the Diamondbacks, where he made his mark as a Gold Glove-winning shortstop and a union representative. As a signatory to the 2022 CBA, he stressed the importance of protecting the game for those that come after him. "Teams have found a way to manipulate those types of players and extract more value (out) of them,” he said. “We’re fighting for the next generation of players.”
